Ford Transit gets 4WD

transitawd04.jpgThe Ford Transit has for decades been the standard working horse of Europe and much of the rest of the world – the F-150 for our friends across the pond. The versatile work-a-day hauler was recently named Van of the Year by a pan-European panel of automotive journalists. (Why didn’t they ask us? Just ’cause we can’t find “Yurp” on a map doesn’t mean we don’t have an opinion!) Continue reading Ford Transit gets 4WD

VW says sales this year up 11 per cent

volkswagen-logo.jpgVolkswagen AG, Europe’s biggest automaker, said Wednesday that sales for all its brands rose 11 per cent through the end of August compared to last year, but warned that its German plants were barely profitable.  Horst Neumann, the management board member who oversees human resources, told a meeting of nearly 15,000 VW workers in Wolfsburg that the company had sold 3.75 million vehicles in the first eight months of the year, Continue reading VW says sales this year up 11 per cent

2007 Lexus LS 460

2007lexusgs.jpgIt is difficult for a company to establish itself as a manufacturer of luxury cars of the highest class and quality. That was the aim of Lexus when, 17 years ago, as a division of Toyota Motor Corporation, the LS 400 was launched in America and Europe. Americans are generally more pragmatic and less traditional than Europeans, and they soon recognized the LS 400 as a car offering superior quality at a lower price than its most prestigious competitors from either continent. First Mercedes Benz CL600 Coupe Video Review

mersed.jpgI believe this is the first video review of the all new 2007 Mercedes CL. The review was shown on the German TV channel VOX and is obviously in German. I would love to translate the video for you, but that would be very hard and time consuming, so if you are unable to understand the video and what the guy is saying, then just enjoy the video and the beautiful CL. The cars debut is now only a matter of days, rather than weeks, away. Though more and more development mules continue to appear, two just last week in Arizona alone and spotted multiple times, Continue reading Audi R8 in detail

2009-porsche-panamera.jpgPorsche’s Wendelin Wiedeking announced in an interview just days ago that the automaker’s new Panamera four-door “coupe” began its testing marathon at the challenging Nürburgring over the last week. Ford buys Rover brand name from BMW

ford-rover-bmw.jpgFord has exercised its right to acquire the Rover brand name from BMW. When the American automaker purchased Land Rover from BMW, it obtained the right to buy the related Rover name if BMW ever elected to sell it. When BMW announced it had come to an agreement to sell Rover to Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive in late August, Ford was given 90 days to intervene and make the acquisition itself. Lexus GS450h hybrid

lexus-gs450h.jpgThe new hybrid from Lexus is a smooth ride, but it’s a hefty price to pay to feel eco-friendly with good diesels around. Remember Betamax video recorders, those lumbering, top-loading titans of terminal technology? They went from old hat to dead format in the blink of an eye. Now picture the Lexus GS450h, a car that may just be the equivalent of a $121,900 Betamax recorder. Continue reading Lexus GS450h hybrid
