Wolfsburg plant produces 25 millionth Vw Golf

The 25 millionth Golf rolled off the Volkswagen production line in Wolfsburg on 23 March.

The very first example of the production Volkswagen Golf was assembled in 1974 and within three years volume totalled a million vehicles.  Over 33 years and four generations later a Golf 1.4 TSI fitted with DSG transmission and finished in tornado red, became the 25 millionth example. Volvo to complete purchase of Nissan diesel

When the acceptance period for Volvo’s offer for Nissan Diesel expired on March 23rd, Volvo had received a total of roughly 96% of the shares outstanding. Since Volvo has received more than two thirds of the shares in Nissan Diesel, a process is now being initiated to redeem the remaining shares outstanding. Since Nissan Diesel will not be releasing its year-end report for 2006 until May 11th, Volvo has decided to postpone its first quarter interim report until the same date – May 11th 2007. A jury of some 100 international creativity and marketing experts has made its choice: the Volkswagen Magazine has been awarded the coveted Mercury Award 2006 in silver.

The Volkswagen Magazine, which the Wolfsburg-based automaker publishes in cooperation with G + J Corporate Media GmbH, ran for the first time in the Custom Publications, Automobiles category and was awarded a place among the top 3 at this first attempt. Fit for Debate, Fit for Rebate

Honda’s Canadian subsidiary is facing an interesting choice: fuel economy at the expense of safety.  New federal regulations recently passed in Canada award a $1000 rebate for cars that fall below a fuel consumption threshold, set at 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers in that wacky metric system. For the first time in the Nissan Z’s 37-year history, a high-performance NISMO 350Z is part of the 2007 Z lineup, with an extensively developed list of unique equipment.

The NISMO 350Z’s aerodynamics package strongly resembles the Super GT championship winning Zs, with an aggressive front fascia with chin spoiler, side skirts, an extended rear fascia with underbody diffuser and a rear wing.
