In Japan, the G37 gets its Skyline on as birthday bash commences

skyline50logo.jpgThe Nissan Skyline’s 50th Anniversary exhibit opened Tuesday, April 24th at Tokyo Midtown, and that means that the new Skyline Coupe (a.k.a. Infiniti G37 here in the States) has made its first official appearance. The exhibit in Tokyo features examples from each generation of the Skyline, and the opening event was attended by luminaries including Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe. For the first time in the Nissan Z’s 37-year history, a high-performance NISMO 350Z is part of the 2007 Z lineup, with an extensively developed list of unique equipment.

The NISMO 350Z’s aerodynamics package strongly resembles the Super GT championship winning Zs, with an aggressive front fascia with chin spoiler, side skirts, an extended rear fascia with underbody diffuser and a rear wing. Nissan quietly drops new VQ in 350Z

350z_1_450.jpgWhile everyone was lining up in orderly rows to watch the official unveiling of the Sentra SE-R and Altima coupe at Nissan’s LA press conference, we snapped a few pics of a pre-production model of the 2007 350Z. Although the exterior has gotten a few subtle tweaks that only those of us in the Z-car enthusiast camp would notice, they deserve a brief mention. While the headlamps and taillights have been revised with new housings, the most striking change was the addition of a power dome that eschews the two creases that formerly flanked both sides hood. Nissan Altima Coupe needs to learn French fast

nissan-altima-coupe.jpgIt’s an Altima Coupé. It’s a Laguna Coupé. It’s two, two, two cars in one. Auto Express magazine has another spy shot of Nissan’s new Altima 2-door we told you about recently. But there’s a twist. The car is wearing a Renault badge. Huh? How did Renault get the Coupé before Nissan? Company head Carlos Ghosn has announced plans to introduce a whopping 26 new Renault models over the next 3 years, and borrowing the underpinnings from the Altima, the new Laguna could be available much sooner. GM talks tough with Renault Nissan chief executives in alliance talks

nissan-renault.jpgGeneral Motors toughened its public stance on proposals that the U.S. carmaker join an alliance with Renault and its sister company, Nissan, adding to uncertainties weighing on the industry as the Paris Motor Show opens its doors Thursday.  For the first time, Detroit-based GM said clearly that it was unhappy with the plan on the table, as chief executive Rick Wagoner met for talks with Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn on the eve of the show.
