What I found on Earth Day

While I was out celebrating Earth Day by driving our Audi S8 tester I stumbled across a really interesting find at one of the locations I stopped at to photograph the muscle sedan. Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, CT is a harborside complex that’s a very popular spot in the spring and summertime around here. The big deck overlooking the marina is a great place to sit and have lunch with your family and friends, and some of the buildings there make for a great photo backdrop.

An old icehouse (or a building made up to look like one) backs up to the main parking lot, and there are several charge boxes like the one you see above mounted to the wall. Each one reads, “PARKING – Electric Cars Only.” I’m sorry to say I don’t know the story behind them, but I’ll be making some calls this week to find out. Anyway, I thought they looked pretty cool and would share them with you. As you’ll see after the jump, neither “my” car nor the one next to it had any use for the box (I don’t know if it even had power to it. to be honest). It sure made for a neat picture, though.

If the manufacturers get their acts together, maybe those boxes will see a renaissance sometime in the not-so-distant future. Anyway, Happy Earth Day from the ABG Connecticut field office.
